Activities as NSS Programme Officer:

From June, 2011 organized around 12 workshops/National Service Camps viz. Plantation Drive, Blood Donation Camp, Five Days Workshop for NSS Programme Officers on Social Harmony, Arbor Day, Drug De-addiction Campaign, Teachers Day, Child Development Programme etc. 

Awards: 

National Awards:

Won national award in Technical Excellence in category of sound in one of the films titled Habkak –The Horseman produced by EMMRC University of Kashmir.

State Award:

“Namdah an artistic flooring” produced and directed by Tariq Abdullah has won him state award in best documentary category 2009 organized by Jammu and Kashmir state academy of 
Art, Culture and Languages 
The award winning documentary Namdha –An Artistic Flooring was screened in South Asian Documentary film festival organized by ANHAD Institute of Media Studies New Delhi.

Research experience:

Worked as Research Associate on a project titled as “Coverage of Gender Issues in National and regional media” funded by ministry of Information and broadcasting Government of India
Worked as Research Associate on another project entitled “Government Information Delivery Mechanism and Technological Development” sponsored by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India
Worked as Research Officer on a project entitled “Plight of children in the present turmoil of Kashmir” sponsored by Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of India.

Trainer/Guide:

Tariq Abdullah has been associated as Trainer-cum-Guide for BBC World Service Trust Project from 2009 – 2010 for Social Affair Reporting for Rural Areas. The Trainees were the students of Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir. 
Tariq Abdullah was also Trainer-cum-Guide for two year from 2011-2012 on a PANOS South Asia/Ford Foundation Project on Urban affairs reporting. The Trainees were the students of Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir. 
Tariq Abdullah has been associated as mentor/guide with VIDEO PRODUCTION workshop organized by EMMRC for students of Media Education Research Centre University of Kashmir for last six years. 
Tariq Abdullah has been associated as mentor/guide with VIDEO PRODUCTION workshop organized by EMMRC and Directorate of Life Long Learning of  University of Kashmir  for entrepreneurs for last five years. 

Visiting faculty:

Taught for ten years in Media Studies Department at Government Degree College Baramulla as a guest faculty.
Subjects taught Television Production viz editing, sound, stages of production and conducting workshops and practical sessions on TV production.

Attended a video production workshop at MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Produced a short film on Passive smoking and A Step Towards Literacy.
