A former US Fulbright Fellow in Communication Technology (1998-99); M.A., Ph.D in Mass Communication and Journalism from University of Kashmir and M.S. in Communication Technology from Syracuse University, USA. Dr Shahid Rasool has over 24 years of experience in research, production, and direction of educational films at EMMRC -a national level television production and research centre. Has 5 years of regular teaching experience at PG level from 1992-93, 2002 -2004 and also 9 years as visiting faculty at various educational institutions. A registered research guide for M.Phil and Ph.D in Mass Communication.
Also Served as: Incharge Head of the Department of MERC from 21 June 2008 to 4 January 2012; Chairman Departmental Research Committee MERC, Chairman UG and PG Board of Studies in Mass Communication and Journalism; Chairman Media Advisory Committee at University of Kashmir. Produced and directed over 300 films including 123 Educational Television Produced and Directed 5 National Award winning films. Co-ordinated development of around 300 e-content multimedia modules and over 400 Learning Objects.
Published 10 research papers in reputed journals/Book, One Book titled: “Educational Television in India” and various reports/policy papers for national level agencies. Served as Chief Editor of twin publications, “Media times” and “MERC Times”, at MERC for 3 years
Member of various national level academic and professional bodies and consultative committees including member on prestigious Governing Board of CEC-UGC and Expert Committee at MHRD. Organised and attended various academic workshops/training programmes/film festivals/expert committee meetings and conferences. Delivered lectures at various places in the country and abroad and presented papers in various national/ international conferences.
His areas of interest are Television and New Communication Technologies, Educational Technology and Higher Education and Media Studies.
